If there's a strange-sounding, shadowy figure, which looks like monster and can predict your future, it's bad enough. However, what's worse is when the predictions start coming true. The Mothman Prophecies, directed by Mark Pellington, is about such a story, and is reportedly based on actual events.

3. The Sixth Sense (1991)

The most impressive quote in The Sixth Sense is “I see dead people.” It is the story of a troubled, isolated boy Cole Sear, who is able to see and talk with the dead. He befriends Bruce Willis who tries to uncover the mystery. Watch out for the shocking ending. The movie turned into a blockbuster - being nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture - and turned director Manoj N. Shyamalan into an overnight star.

4. Cujo (1983)

Fear dogs? Then better not watch this movie. Stephen King's Cujo tells the story of the Trenton family, who are terrorized by the eponymous Cujo, a rabid St. Bernard.

5. Carrie (1976)

Carrie, a supernatural film, is about Carrie White, a socially outcast teenage girl, who finds out that she possesses latent psionic power, especially when she is angry or distressed. However, her peers, teachers, and abusive mother realize her gift too late.

The movie, which was directed by Brian De Palma and written by Lawrence D. Cohen, became a major success, grossing $33.8 million at the U.S. box office (its budget was $1.8 million). According to a survey taken in October 2008, Carrie was considered one of the most popular movies teens watched on Halloween.
